“The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate,” by Jacqueline Kelly, is about a girl named Calpurnia who finds out what she wants to be and what she doesn’t want to be.

When Calpurnia turns 11 many things happen in her life. One of the things is that she spends lots of time with her grandfather, who is a scientist. Calpurnia also wants to be a scientist, but since she is a girl her parents, especially her mother, want her to learn how to cook, sew, and play the piano.  What will Calpurnia do, what she wants to do or what her mother wants her to do ?

I suggest that you read “The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate” if you want to enjoy a story of fun, adventure, and finding more about yourself.
