School’s out! It’s finally summer! But wait…what to do?

You could go swimming at a beach or a local pool. Coach Scott, our P.E. teacher, also coaches the year-round Oaklantis swim team where you can learn swimming skills and compete against other teams. You can find out more about the team here: oaklantis.squarespace.com/what-we-do/.

The Summer Reading Program at the Oakland Public Library is another great summer activity. You can sign up at your local library, read, and earn prizes for free. You can sign up and find out more at oaklandlibrary.org/summer.

You can also use your Oakland library card to get free passes to museums, like the California Academy of Sciences, and other fun places. For more information, go to discoverandgo.org.

How about a free movie in the park with your friends? Redwood Heights Park in Oakland shows movies outdoors at night during the summer.

A final idea is to bike around your neighborhood or find a trail that you enjoy.

These are just a few ideas for great, low-cost or free summer activities. Have a great summer, everyone!
